Bone Histomorphometry Service
  • In collaboration with Professor Tony Freemont's group in Manchester, Orion is delighted to offer a full service in human and animal bone histomorphometry
  • Samples in alcohol are processed into resin and histomorphometry performed using semi-automated computer-based image analysis
  • In addition to histomorphometric parameters a report is produced by a pathologist with more than 20 years experience in interpretation of bone biopsies
  • Standard turn around time for biopsies is 3 to 4 weeks, although under special circumstances biopsies can be reported more rapidly
  • The standard data set provided consists of the following parameters, but it is possible to provide any other parameter as required. All data are as recommended by the ASBMR Histomorphometry Nomenclature Committee (Parfitt AM, et al. J Bone Miner Res. 1987 Dec;2(6):595-610).
